One of Houston's newest restaurants, Branch Water Tavern combines food and beverage talents to create a modern American tavern. The menu includes American, French, and Asian inspired dishes with plenty of seafood choices. The beverage offerings include hand-crafted cocktails, boutique wines, artisanal beer, and American whiskeys.
“Our menu will offer straightforward presentations with intense flavors,” said David Grossman, a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. Grossman was formerly with Gravitas and Reef in Houston, as well as Oceana, Gotham Bar & Grill in New York and La Folie in San Francisco before launching Branch Water Tavern. --branchwatertavern.com
Ikal 1150 & Branch Water's Wine List
Co-owner and beverage director Evan Turner has assembled a list of boutique and hard to find wines that compliment the contemporary menu at Branch Water, including the like the Ikal 1150 Pinot Noir from Argentina. This wine, created by fellow Houstonians in Argentina, is a lighter red wine that's great by itself or with the roasted heirloom beet salad (with candied pistachio, humboldt fog goat cheese). Aromas of cherry blossom, pie spice, and earth set this wine apart from many new world Pinot Noir.
Roasted meat fans will love our Cabernet Sauvignon with the pan roasted organic chicken (market vegetables, ricotta dumplings, lemon thyme jus), the prosciutto and arugula rolls, or the long island duck (with rosemary gnocchi, duck confit ragout).
"At Branch Water Tavern, we want people to enjoy fantastic food, a great drink, and learn a little something along the way, We plan to walk the line between the familiar and cutting edge and look forward to taking Houstonians with us down that path." --David Grossman
