Prounounced "eleven-fifty" and describing our elevation in meters above sea level, the 1150 wines from Bodega Ikal benefit from a privileged location. Set against the foothills of Andes and a backdrop of gorgeous snow-capped peaks, 1150 is the perfect place to be inspired. For us, the inspiration comes weaving together the various elements of the vineyard, like poetry in the bottle.
The sandy, rocky soil, created by the Andes' glaciers, provides for excellent drainage and retains warmth during the cold Mendoza nights. The pure snow-melt water from the Andes mountains gently nourishes the vines. The great temperature differences between night and day, the cool dry air, the lack of rainfall, all add up to a deeply intense concentration and complexity in our wines.
We are an estate winery growing and harvesting our own fruit from this inspiring place. In addition to the vineyard and winery, we are also building a small luxury hotel and residences.
1150 wines are marketed and sold outside the United States as Ikal 1150.
