Argentine Torrontes Mendoza Best Torrontes

Our vineyard's location in the Valle de Uco is higher and about 10F cooler than the average for Mendoza. These cooler temperatures along with the four rivers that run through the property allow the fruit to slowly ripen and take on the character of the soil. The sandy, gravel soil on top of the solid granite bedrock make the vines struggle to yield their best.

Torrontes is a grape whose profile and aromatics are all over the board. The winemakers's job is to reign this in both during the growing season and in the winemaking. The Ikal 1150 Torrontes tightly balances complimentary aromatics on the nose and on the palette.

Tasting Notes

Our expression of this uniquely Argentine grape starts with its golden straw color. On the nose, floral notes with citrus, pear, honey and minerality (crushed granite, river-stone, and flint). Soft, dry, and pleasing on the mineral driven palette. A clean finish with citrus and honey that mirror the nose.

Wines at St Stephens Silent Auction Art Show

We're co-sponsoring this year's Art Show and Auction 2010 by donating a selection of wines including the Ikal 1150 Chardonnay and Malbec. We're excited to see the great artwork the St. Stephens students have created and to pour our wines for their parents!

The transformation of Pecore Hall into an art gallery is complete and looking fabulous! There are many incredible art pieces created by the St. Stephens students for action. Also featured are great getaways and memorabilia this year. Tickets at the door are $75 and include dinner catered by Treebeard’s, drinks, and dessert.

We're sponsoring this year's "Everybody's Somebody" charity event at Poe Elementary with a donation of our wine for the dinner and tasting events. For the silent auction, we've teamed up with Hotel Esencia to offer a 3 day 4 night wine and dine experience in Mexico's Riviera Maya.

This year the country & western theme will include a BBQ dinner, silent auction, live auction, big board, and a live band. There will also be a wine raffle with donations from Ikal 1150 Wines of Argentina and auction attendees. You may donate wines to Poe Elementary by way of the Houston Wine Merchant.
